To Analyze the World

In my free time,
I love to read,
write, and drink
too much coffee.
Toys or Tools?

Our very roots as a free nation were won and taken by guns and the ownership of them. They upset people; they thrill people.
“Toys or Tools?” was inspired by a billboard that I saw driving home from school advertising for Last Resort Guns. I originally enjoyed it because of how crisp and well composed it was from a marketing perspective, especially in comparison to other gun store advertisements I had experienced. Then, over the course of my Rhetorical Criticism class, I realized that I could use Ideological criticism to compare the two.
HudsonAlpha Crisis Communication Plan

This document, in a printed form, should be kept
up-to-date in each office of the management of HudsonAlpha, as well as the crisis management director of each HudsonAlpha Associate Company.
“HudsonAlpha Crisis Communcation Plan” was a project completed for my crisis communication class in Fall 2019. I worked with a partner to create a hypothetical crisis communication plan for a company of our choosing. We composed the entire document ourselves, and we had to use the protocols and information we put in the document to prepare for our final presentation where we were informed of a crisis 24 hours beforehand and had to give a composed presentation that initially responded to the emailed crisis. The plan is based around HudsonAlpha, a biological research lab in Huntsville, AL, and it contains information such as protocol responses to various crises, planned training dates, and lists of HudsonAlpha’s partner companies.
{Bow} Down, Set, Hut!

Football surely isn’t a god; it’s just a game...
"Blasphemy."
“{Bow} Down, Set, Hut!” was written in my Creative Nonfiction Writing in the fall of 2018 class as an analytic essay. Since it was written during the peak of football season and I lived at home, every Saturday my house was teeming with scores, emotions, and the infamous “football parties” I grew up on. I wouldn’t change my past for the world, but this essay is an analysis that arose from a reflection on my feelings when football just got to be a little too intense.
Where the Coffee Is

They are welcoming to everyone and, even though the room may be freezing ninety percent
of the time, it is always
an adventure inside.
“Where the Coffee Is” was written for my Creative Nonfiction class as a Profile of Place essay. The challenge in this essay was describing an inanimate place and giving readers a sense of what it was like to walk into that place. I chose Dunkin’ Donuts because it was (and is) a safe haven as well as a place with quality product and homework space. Time may have changed the faces and branding may have changed the nomenclature, but Dunkin’ is, at its core, the same place I profiled in 2018.
