The News Courier
A daily newspaper published in Athens, Alabama
Writing & Editing
My main job description with The News Courier is Copyediting and Page Design, but I wear more hats than that.
I write content for the paper and its magazines regularly, ranging from sports stories to special section features. I also write "What it Was" for the company's Senior Scene magazine, a series that showcases the history of buildings in the area.
Layout & Design
Page design is my daily task with the paper, but I have had the opportunity to use InDesign for more than just laying out daily news while with the Courier.
I design special tabs for clients who use our printer as well as graphic elements to enhance the readability and appeal of our pages.
More than that, I have also designed a few infographic-style pages to showcase highly interesting local happenings, such as the controversy surrounding the iconic Saturn 1B rocket on I-65 or when the paper's readership had two natives playing for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2023 Super Bowl.
