LSINC: Graphic Design and Social Media Intern

During my work with LSINC, I utilized multiple aspects of my graphic design abilities. The predominant graphic work I did was creating images to accompany each social media post that the company put out. I used Canva and company stylized templates to create images with text that captured the company’s vision as well as the nature of the post.
The second type of work I did was more technical. For one of the projects the team was working on, their client was sending Adobe Illustrator files to pass to LSINC’s technology. My role in the transaction was to take the Illustrator files and determine the best arrangement, resolutions, and settings that the documents needed to be compatible with the technology. My writing education was also extremely useful as I documented my findings to be presented to the client.
These images show the variety of graphics I worked on. They are not linked, but any of these can be found through the LinkedIn link above.

Eastside church of Christ
I do a few different volunteer tasks for Eastside church of Christ, but graphics is my longest standing task. I started out by creating banners for upcoming Gospel Meetings and summer lecture series to be displayed on the website. These banners expanded into a logo redesign and social media branding campaign. Now, I still create event banners, but I have also designed graphics for correspondence courses Eastside is promoting as well as the images for several different podcasts the church publishes.
User Experience

As a part of my Web Communication minor while I was obtaining my undergraduate degree, I took a User Experience (now called User Interface Design) class. This class inspired me and helped me learn a lot about what I want to do with my career. Thanks to this UID class, I am now planning to pursue an User Experience Graduate Certificate along with my M.S. in Communication Arts. These showcased projects were the projects we had to complete in class.
Project 3- This project was designed to be fast paced and fun while teaching us to think outside of the box for a well established set of branding. Our class was supposed to redesign The Weather Channel's app with a quick turnaround. The deliverable that we focused on most though was the brief written to defend our design instead of merely explain it.
Project 4- The final lesson we learned in the class was to take our UX skills and apply them in a team setting. Our class was "stacked" with both senior UX students as well as the junior UX class, so each group worked under the management of one of those senior students. In this project, my group was working on a tablet to improve ordering accessibility for restaurants. Our team divided into two portions: the tablet demo and the "parent company." I was a part of the "parent company" portion working to prepare materials to advertise the tablet at a hypothetical trade show.
